If a filter in your AC part is inches thick near dirt... is it harmful to you condition wise?
Yes. This is desperate in several ways.
OMG yes- the stuff you vacuum, dust, pet (and human) dander, mold, pollen, so much stuff- esp. for people near allergies.
make sure you wipe most of the dirt past its sell-by date bi-weekly and rinse the filter and let dry at lowest possible monthly (depends on use)

Seriously, I've handled some filter that would cause the average human being to go screaming into the hours of darkness, and I've never gotten sick from one.
Be careful around breathing in the dust... that go for anything very dirty. Bag it if it's really that discouraging, then toss it within the trash.
