Air conditioning wont work? My husband was trying to rework the thermostat in our house...
My husband was trying to rework the thermostat in our house and in a minute the air conditioning wont see on just the aficionado. He tried putting the wires back the path they were when he took stale the other thermostat but it doesnt matter. What can we do to fix it? besides beckon someone I mean incentive we cant have anyone come out til monday and it is so hot.
r to y is a/c
r to w heat
r to g disciple
rc should have a small line connected to rh
with r - y - and g twisted together the ac should work
to be exact how they should be wired on the unit i know i will gain a thumbs down for giving you this info but i do this everyday
Did your husband connect the thermostat correctly?? If he did afterwards the new thermostat could be blemished. Thermostats are connected in series-in one smudge only. To question paper if the thermostat is faulty, use an OHMMETER. Rotate meter's switch (if rotary) to ohms. Touch the ends of the meter's prods-usually red and black- to the 2 terminal of the thermostat. If the pointer of the tester doesn't move when the switch of the thermostat is moved to ON then the thermostat have to be returned to wherever you purchased it.
Be sure to own the replacement thermostat TESTED at the appliance store for CONTINUITY ONLY before accepting it. If the a/c element still don't start with the alien and tested thermostat CONNECT BOTH ENDS OF THE WIRE THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE THERMOSTAT. If the compressor still don't start ,the problem could be with the OVERLOAD PROTECTOR.Call a qualified a/c mechanic! The available job calls for the expertise of a pro. Before doing so check and check again the connections. If the connections are right in attendance might have be a wire pulled out loose by fluke when the faulty thermostat be removed. TAKE CAUTION!
Answers: Its apposite your fan still runs so thats tellin me that your transformer is apposite and you have 24 volts goin to your t-stat and you haven't broken anything. Make sure you don't own a common on the ancient t-sat that your touching together with your red or power...this would short your transformer and you'll know when this happen because your fan won't work anymore.
Make sure you bought the right thoughtful of t-stat. for gas heating you stipulation a t-sat that says conventional...If its a grill pump needs to speak heat pump. And if it is a bake pump you may need to drop from Y to W on the new t-stat...Read the instructions...Even though I'm tallking in the order of heating - if its a fry pump your a/c may not work if you bought a conventional stat
Best advice - don't lately match up the colors of the wires to the color code on the tentative t-stat. Whoever installed ur unit might own used different colors..so look and see where respectively color went to on the outmoded t-stat...For example obviosly they used green wire for aficionado and green on the new t-stat. But the other colors might not contest what they should be.Just try to remember where the mature colors went on the antiquated t-sat...just don't try to guess because if here is a common you could short ur transformer.NOTE: if your behind the times t-stat runs on batteries or is the elderly dial type then you don't hold a common- so it would be okay to guess. when you do this - do it so just the wires are exposed. Touch red to green your disciple should come on. touch red to yellow the compressor will come on. If your compressor comes on beside a different color then use that color to be in motion to Y designation on the new stat. and the use which ever telecommunication to red that turns on heat to progress to W on the new t-stat
