Air conditioning leak? My air conditioning has be leaking for 2 months now. The Landlord...

My air conditioning has be leaking for 2 months now. The Landlord have pushed back replacing the leaking equipment. The first time the AC stopped working the freon be refilled at the end of our power bill. The following month the component froze twice, and was refilled both times. The power bill averaged from $180-200 and later spiked to $400 the month where the unit be refilled twice. My guess from the unit over working trying to accomplish alike temp. I already spoke with my landlord and he is unwilling to earnings the difference. What I need to know is where I can return with documentation to show my landlord that he should take prudence of the bill and what I will need for court if it comes down to that.
Answers:    Tell him that you will report him to the EPA because it is unlawful to knowingly operate an a/c system i.e. releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere. It can be up to a $10,000 fine which would serve his cheap *** right!
In Canada, it is illegal for any person or company to in recent times refill a leaking nouns conditioning system with refrigerant , without repairing the ooze first. It sounds like the person that did that finishing AC repair did just that...knowingly refill , knowing that it was all going to a short time ago leak out again. If you called the EPA and enquire what the laws are in the USA next to regards to refrigerant handling and recycling, that repair company and your hotelier could be in big trouble. There is a big fine in Canada for doing such a piece. This knowledge might give you some bargain power...again, check with the gov't first. In the U.S.A. it is illegal to purposely recharge a leaking system. Tell the landlord that he broke the tenet and he might change his tune.
