I have an air conditioner within the window of my apartment... It was simply bought about 2 months ago and I know is in fine condition...

Lately though the heavens hasn't been as cool. I live in Brooklyn so we enjoy to clean the filter a lot and we donate it on a good amount because it is the only escape from the warmth.

Could the filter need all together replacing? Or could within be another issue?

Check the coils outside to see if they are clogged. If so clean them thoughtfully and with the unit unplugged from the electicity.

Is it a filter that is designed to be cleaned. Some are to be replaced frequently. Check your manufacturer's instruction book. They also usually have a troubleshooting guide.

I would check the coils consequently try a different brand of filter. Also check your warrenity. You might want to take it back where on earth you got it. Because it might have to do beside something internal.

Answers:    If you have to clean the inside coils deeply it would stand that the outside coils would need cleaning too. As long as your filter is not damaged it should not want replacing. Has it been hotter lately then when you first bought it? Does the sun shine directly on the ac element? Maybe the unit does have a irregularity?
