After a home inspection we found a wiring/fusing issue.? It turns out that there have been some over fusing. ...

It turns out that there have been some over fusing. The 60 amp foremost lighting pull fuse have 12 gauge CU cable double tapped into it. There are 2-20 amp fuses next to 14 gauge CU running into them. I want to know how much it would cost to make this safer and smaller quantity of a fire hazzard.
14 ga is usually ok to 15 amps at most but I recomed 10 amps for fuses or breakers, 12ga is ok to 20 amps but Id dance to 15 amps and 10ga is ok to 30 amps and usually is on 220v ac.

If you have 60Amp on 12ga you can procure 30 amp fuses but you'll need fuse addapters to fit the 30 amp ones. These usually available at an electrical supply store (may be at LOWE Joe's yuck) I don`t know Ace hardware. An dIm not clear on what you mean by double tap. DO you mean in attendance are 4 wires 2 on each leg of the fuse block on the protected side? IF so and you own no other place to put it, do not exceed the max rating for #12 even if they both go to one and the same appliance. If you have over fused and 1 of the conductors breaks presently you have 60 amps protecting 1 #12. Not a past the worst alternative. rewire this circut asap correctly but dont go over the singleconductor rating.
Probably will be worth your time to replace the fusebox next to a breaker box. You can actually, unless local ordinance prohibit it, rewire everything past the Electric Company's box on your own. Grab a Wiring 101 book from Lowes and run to town.

Actually, the 14 gauge rope is only rate for 15 amps, so that whole setup is wrong. It sounds similar to you've got multiple fuseboxes surrounded by a small area, if you replace them beside one new breaker box, near 60 amp main breakers, you can win by with running the 14 ga wires to 15 amp breakers lacking replacing any wire at adjectives. Unless that 12 gauge you mentioned is the nurture from your outside box, which DEFINITELY needs replaced near the proper wire quantify.

You'll have to achieve your power company to cut off the D while you replace the breaker, so pick a day you can nick off work. It's an natural job, though, the hardest cut will be wrestling that heavy evaluate wire through the wall from the meter to the untried box. It'll be good to check the grounding at equal time, you may wind up have to put in a 6ft copper clad stake and running a contemporary bare copper ground to it, if the current ground line is too small/not present.

You can definitely get hold of some $$$ knocked rotten the purchase price if you're still in buying conference, and save abundantly of it if you do it yourself after the sale.
Answers:    The web is a wonderful entry, but I prefer to meet my contractors obverse to face. A lot can be said for gut inner health once you meet someone.

Do achieve three estimates. What you want done is remove the fuse panel and install a 200 amp breaker panel. You will have to replace the panel, nurture wires, and probably a meter base. Yes, this isn't going to be cheap, but it will bring your distribution panel up to the 1990s. What you own now is 1950s technology.
its easier said than done to say short knowing a lot more info. these are serious issues but effortless to fix. There is a link below where on earth you can get 3 FREE estimates no bs and here pre screened contractors.
