A/C Unit - Per Contractor, acceptance giant pressure reading from big pressure stopcock.? Please help. My a/c component (2years old) is having problems....
Please help. My a/c component (2years old) is having problems. After running usually for extended periods, the blades stop, next attempt to restart again. It repeats this over and over. Two contractors checked and said receiving giant pressure readings from big pressure valve, which automatically stops the section. Living in house for one year and this is the first we've have with this issue. Coil system be cleaned (water spraying) but still cuts off. Contractors recommend repairing coil and cleaning line set. I enjoy an old gas furnace (20yrs old) which the previous owners did not replace when a/c component was. Could it be something near the furnace? One person said the exterior filter vein could be clogged. Please help.
Answers: Nothing wrong near the compressor. The job of the compressor is to produce pressure and it is doing it's brief well. It is outside so it have nothing to do beside what you are smelling.
You have just half the equation near mention of high side pressure. What is the low side pressure?
And "normal" pressures are impressively sensitive to ambient temperature. They are much complex in hotter weather. But the gauge are all prominent with temps.
If it is low or typical you have a restriction. It is that simple. I'd bet it is low. If both are glorious it is overcharged.
It can be a mismatch between coil (evaporator) and compressor but that is unlikely since the problem is up to date.
Could be that the problem is an expansion value that is to say restricted. Could be an orifice that is too small and piston types can be changed but again unlikely if it worked surrounded by the past.
My best guess is it could be a plugged dryer. This is not an singular place for a restriction maybe the most adjectives.
The dryer is a tube that contains a dessicant to remove any moisture in the refrigerant. That is inline beside the refrigerant and likely what folks are calling a "filter". But if the dryer is plugging up usually it is too cool when it should be warm.
Sometimes the powder within the dryer plugs up the screens.
I don't know what you be going to by "repairing the coil". What problem is there beside that? Which coil?
It sounds to me like the contractor have the right idea to run after a restriction. I would ask about replacing the dryer though.
All your furnace does for the a/c is move the upper air and provide the 24 volts for the controls, the thermostat. You might be smelling a hot blower motor but who knows. It could freshly be a little residual odor, approaching from the chimney.
But you are talking hermetically sealed system work and it is not cheap and you can't do it. Sorry.
Good Luck
