We had ours serviced last year and they added Freon. Is it a moment ago the Texas sun that keeps the house so darn hot? What can I do?

Is the attic insulated?
If it is, maybe you call for to add some ventilation and/or an attic follower.
Add shades over windows exposed to the Sun, or plant trees to shade those windows within summer.
That's what we do here for the California Sun, which shines just as hot as it does in Texas.
in attendance are a lot of things you can do to help your AC component. First all ways make sure you hold the shades pulled on the sunny side of the house as sun through glass windows add greatly to the heat inside your house. Make sure you have plenty insulation in your walls and ceilings as this will minister to keep the cool air inside instead of out. Make sure your doors and window seal properly. Once you get it cool, preserve it cool by leaving the unit on instead of turning sour and on. It is a lot easier to maintain a temp later it is to let it get hot and try to cool it down,(inside surfaces hold bake ) and last but not all mechanism least, make sure that your section is sized right to cool a house your size. If it is undersized and it get s extremely hot outside, nothing it will do will preserve your house cool. Hope that helps HVAC Tech.: In Texas I would recommend a yearly check-up. We verbs coils, check electrical connections, check insulation on refrigerant lines and duct work. We try to maintain the state of cleanliness the unit have when new.Home owners are not qualified to do these things, most can't even remember to change the upper air filter once a month even though that would save them more money than any other single thing they could. I see unit all the time that instead of running 15 to 20 years die off within warranty from bad house keeping. Some times there is a "MICRO" seep and refrigerant has to be put back. You may own such a leak.
Answers: make sure your condensing element is clean [the one on the out side] turn off spray 409 purify from inside out with hose also change your nouns filter monthly and if you can get to your evaporator coil clean it close to outside coils of course this all should hold been done before freon added
