all Bakelite had asbestos to some existent. this be used mainly as a binding for the material. the strange ones will have Fiberglas and or ceramic.

If anything goes wrong near your electrics, an IEEE electrician is not allowed to effect a repair on old style fuse boxes, so if you do a middle of the hours of darkness call-out for something simple, it could end up costing an arm and a leg! Suggest you budget for renewal of fuse box before anything fail.
