Above Ground Pool Pump Problem? We have an Intex 16' pool that I bought at Sam's...
We have an Intex 16' pool that I bought at Sam's ultimate year. The pump that came next to it quit working so my husband & I went to a pool store to price a fresh pump. The store had a pump that someone have returned and they told us they tested it and it worked fine. They knocked reasonably a bit off the price so we go ahead & bought it. This was contained by February. They told us that we could have 3 weeks to bring it wager on if it didn't work.
My husband plugged it in to check it &it worked fine. Earlier this week we go to hook it up &all it does is net this awful sound. We bought a stronger extension cord &afterwards it worked.for about 5 minutes. One of the hoses be leaking, so we unplugged it to fix the bleed & when we plugged it back contained by, there be that awful sound again. My husband messed next to the wires some trying to get it to work, but nil has fixed it. It's too belatedly to return it, so does anyone have any suggestions of what else to try? I don't take to mean why it worked and then newly quit...
Answers: The store sold you a faulty pump planned. They knew it would not work after an amount of time... I would buy another pump from intex, a strange one. You can call and cooperate to them on the phone.. I had one and the same situation happen and the intex ancestors said Walmart sells alien pumps for the pools.
Good luck!
Iam guessing you do know about voltage drop using a long extention cord which is why you said you get a stonger cord , meaning one beside larger wires in it. That help and that is probably what you still involve. Most cords are small wires, 14 gauge, even though sometimes they put gooey insulation on them to make them look beefier but they are still 14 rate. Try plugging it in an outlet contained by the garage and if it works, you need a cord beside 12 gauge or larger lead. You can borrow a meter from a friend or buy one for $10 and test the voltage at the pump. I am guessing you hold a voltage drop which wont run the pump. You will burn it up if you keep trying it. Make sure contained by the end you plug it into a GFIC outlet for safekeeping. For about $150 you can achieve a small sand filter that you don't need to hold putting a costly filter in and works 10 times better than a cartrige filter.
