does anyone have any home-made alternatives to a snake?
Answers:    You could get a metal clothes hanger and lift it apart, leave the curved end and stick it down the toilet bowl. usually the cloth stays surrounded by the trap so all you need to do is maintain turning the hanger as you send it into the bowl eventually it will catch the cloth and you can verbs it out
If you don't have one, buy or borrow a "shop vac" with a 2" dia hose and some perfect power (not a tiny one). Wrap a old towel around the hose, stick it in the bottom of the bowl and permit it suck the washcloth back in the canister. My cleaning ethnic group clogged mine exactly like that and I did this and it unclogged contained by seconds. Add more water to bowl to block flow of sewer nouns and that's it. You can get your washcloth from the inside of the shop vac. Helps to have empty the shop vac first. If the toilet is running slow or plugged up, you may need to turn the water past its sell-by date and remove the toilet from the floor. If the toilet is running smoothly, forget the washcloth. Good Luck!!
