A pipe broke within my underground store and not here me w/o a kitchen since fri. I repay 1,500 a mon rent.? I explained to the landlord that I couldnt afford to eat out...

I explained to the landlord that I couldnt afford to eat out to nurture my family everyday, and he said it wasnt his problem and what did I want him to do.. he also said that we should carry marine from the bathroom to wash dishes eventhough we cant pour the water down the sink. Has any one ever have an issue with a landlord close to this? if so how did you handel it?
i know in NY u can withhold $7.of rent per day for something specifically broken and ur landlord knows going on for it.we did this for our kitchen, the electric was messed up and i had to put my fridge contained by the livingroom and i still could deduct the money.we asked our lawyer If the pipe broke on it's own, the proprietor should be liable to fix it. I would contact a lawyer.
What do you want him to do? Fix the danged pipe so you can use the kitchen sink! It is his responsibiliyt to keep the place contained by "good repair".

Check your state's "residential landlord and tenant" law ... you might be able to do something like the thinking below, BUT you have to follow the law EXACTLY, and dispense all the legally required warning for it to work.

A - give him notice that if it is not fixed contained by a certain number of days (I don't remember what the law says) that you will hire a contractor and enjoy it fixed and deduct the bill from the rent due. There is a limit to what this covers ... usually no more than 1.5 months rent, and it have ot be for sreoius htings ... like broken pipes.

B - give him thought that if it is not fixed in a certain number of days you will consider the lease invalid and move out. Don't pull this unless you are willing to go, it is a fix it or I'm out of here, and they can just let you go.
Answers:    it is the landlords responsibility, unless you broke the pipe. he must repair it in a timely manor. give the board of robustness a call. they will put the thumbscrews on him.
contact a lawyer and brush up on tenant/landlord rights for your state!
A worthy landlord would have fixed it near no questions asked...
