Is it okay to use an extension cord? I only need a few foot. 220volt uses half the amps so wouldn't it be safer than the people using extension cords contained by a 110 outlet? Its's a 3 prong square outlet not the circle type. If anyone knows where I can go and get a heavy duty extension cord let me know. I singular see the cheap ones and I am not sure if they would be appropriate. Halp its hot!
I think you would have to only build your own extension.
Go to your local hardware store Knowing your plug type, each different plug type is for a different amperage so the type you have will make clear to them what amperage for the wire you need and seize the same type male and womanly receptacle.
Its either that or build yourself a longer cord to replace your existing cord.
If you are talking around using 110/120V extension cords for a 220/240V appliance I would STRONGLY recommend against it.
I'm no electrician but can do basic wiring.
If they do own the extension cord for your 220/240V appliance it won't be cheap.
Would it be to hard to move the box/outlet.
A junction box and some lead and 4 ft. of conduit -- I know it would be cheaper than a extension cord. Plenty of websites to show you that.
Is it a Dryer or Stove? You could see if they make a longer cord - Super easy to install..
Just DO NOT use extension cords that are NOT rate for the plug.
Answers: try a tool crib, somewhere that you can buy contractor tools, would be a good place to look.
I don't know what you mean by square.but would an behind the times dryer cord work.If not grab a piece of wire and produce up what you need.Safety Sam Says:) good luck
