I purchased a house with appliances included. The 2006 electric Whirlpool Estate Dryer looks brand new (very little lint even contained by the trap). First time running it blew my 220 line fuse (just thought it was an matured fuse). After replacing it dryer went a full cycle fine. The next nouns after that never shut off (timer never counted down and it ran adjectives night). We thought we could live with that and just monitor it. Now here is no heat either but it still runs, again in need counting down. Is this just one part to be exact affecting this (timer unit) or is the heating unit involved or is it something completely different. Just a service call for will be $65, when at least the timer unit looks glib to replace. If it is possibly something else it might be worth just buying a new dryer? Can anyone minister to identify the issue and give recommendations?
Answers: If you be running it on a automatic cycle ,one that goes by dryness not time and you are not getting heat the timer won't finance with out heat.You can check timer by running on a cycle next to numbers and if it advances on it the motor part of timer is OK.As far a not heat most likely heating part but there are other possibilities.If you are going to fix it your self you will need to hold access to a volt ohm meter,or at least a test desk light to make sure you are getting 220 into the dryer.they will run on one 110 leg and not heat.You can do a optical check on the element.Start by unplugging unit afterwards remove lower back panel.on the bottom right you will see a metal box with a removable lower booth should be two screws. Disconnect wires to element and hinder stat,take out screws and remove factor visually check coils make sure it isn't burned into or touching the metal case anywhere,don't be afraid to move it around near your finger check it out good .If it is broken you need a ne one you can go and get them from sears.If it isn't broken you will need that meter or buy a thermal fuse apparatus for the dryer and gamble .That is the next most expected .Regardless of repairing this one or a new one check vent very close build sure it has full 4" all the agency out.Most of dryer heating problems start in the vent.BE SAFE UNPLUG BEFORE GETTING INSIDE! CHECK YOUR POWER ACROSS THE TWO OUTSIDE SCREWS WHERE THE CORD ATACHES TO THE DRYER YOU NEED 220 HERE YOU HAVE NEUTRAL/GROUND IF IT RUNS.
most promising you have one side of your 220 off or out. or you hold it wired with both wire on one and the same 110 side. or half the breaker is fried. your dryer works with two circuits. respectively 110 and each run separate parts of the dryer. the drum is turning but there's no heat and the timer is on the warmness circuit. check for 220 volts at the dryer. it will be 110. then check the breaker.
IF you are not familiar near electrical wiring then please obtain someone who is You must not be in the states, so I dont know if I can help you, but within the states, the dryer works on two 120V lines and one or two grounds. If you are in the states, it seems similar to somebody may have screwed around with the house electrics. See if this site helps -
