1898 Home Restoration Help Please! Any planning welcome!?

My friend's parents own a 1898 home in what I believe is the Queen Anne Style. Prior to their purchase contained by 1983, the home had be neglected, then disused and vandalized. They don't own the funds to restore the house as they originally hoped they would and the years have taken their toll. I'm investing some of my own money into good the house before its too in arrears.

What inexpensive projects can I work on to help pick up the house? Currently I'm cleaning one room at a time (the house is filthy) and painting bedrooms. What products should I verbs with? Also the mantle were stolen by vandal before they moved surrounded by and the brick is ruined where they be removed. What should I do with them?

**The place is a mess and they haven't taken prudence of it, but it would be beautiful and I'm devoted to in your favour the house before its too past due. Any advice would be handy! Thanks so much!
Answers:    Might see if the the local historical society can help.
Would inquire anonymously at first.
They can sometimes be sticky if the house have been or might be classified as a historical sign.
Only things I can think of to avoid headache is to see that the structure is sound & that you are not wasting time covering up things that can hurt you.
Bound to be front paint & local regs may have something to speak about that
Save everything including bricks , woodwork & anyhting artistic to the house you find laying around.
Try to find a house wrecker that may enjoy "period" pieces like the mantle.
Would also see what the This Old House knowledge partner site on YA has to proposal.
Good to save ancient homes.
Best regards
