Would you resembling to see farmers replace monoculture green-grass-deserts, beside wildflower meadow?
Answers: Yes - but it isnt going to happen. Farmer's entail to make profit and they inevitability fast growing grasses to nurture livestock, such as rye grass. Also, meadows are usually cut for silage since the wildflowers have have a chance to flower and set their pip so unless we go support to traditional hay-making and heavily subsidise farmers for associated loss, we can largely forget it. Farmers were prompted into intensive agriculture after WW2 and it is very strong to get them to extensify immediately. I can see both sides of the argument - I'm not a farmer by the road, I am an ecologist by profession !
It's not farmers but homeowners who grow grass. And yes, as you would expect the land can be put to better use. Almost any crop would be preferable.
