This evening me, my husband and a friend are going to attempt to pollard a willow tree at the rear of our property.
We enjoy both never done this before. But own been researching how to.
Does anyone know how to pollard a willow tree? Has anyone ever done it previously?
Any advice would be grately recived, apart from the solution of hire a tree surgeon... We want to do it ourselves.
The willow surrounded by question is the size of a 3 storey house and have the circumfrence of a dinner plate. We have a chainsaw and 2 paw saws to work near.
Answers: Really bad view. The new branches that will grow will be greatly poorly attached and more likely to incentive problems in a elevated wind. If you don't want the tree, rob it down (it's not a do it yourself project). If you want it, prune properly.
And especially, amateurs do not belong 20 ft up in the heavens with a secure saw. Nor a hand saw. Especially not contained by a weak-wooded tree like a willow.
Trees are heavily built and amateurs often obtain badly hurt. Pros sometimes obtain badly hurt.

And if you're still determined to try, please hold out extra liability, life and disability insurance. You may requirement it.
Did you know willow roots have be known to travel over partly a mile to find water. They are by far the worst tree to plant contained by your yard. They will do a number on your septis and once they purloin hold they,re harder than anything to get rid of. Even if it is cut into pieces the pieces will still grow roots. The stumps enjoy to be either burned out or poisoned. I,d own someone else remove it instead of hassleing with it my self or trying to hold it pollard.
