My girlfriend saw pine needles being used as mulch contained by Florida last winter around home-grown plants and wants it around her sumac bushes. I make out hardly anything grows underneath a pine tree because the needles are so acidic. I'm allergic to sumac, so piled the needles on glorious around them- she's happy and I might be chirpy if they die.
I sincerely doubt it. I live here surrounded by No. Michigan and both pine needles and sumac aplenty. Sumac is not particular something like soil. It will grow in any acid or alkaline soil. Right here along the side of my road are sumacs aplenty right subsequent to pine trees and full of pine needles for mulch.
You will be disappointed and your girlfriend will be happy.
Things don't grow underneath pine trees due to the shade and shallow roots of the trees, not the needles. Sumacs will enjoy the mulch.

The blind of evergreen trees shades out the area beneath them and deflect water away from those areas... sort of a shady desert beneath them. This bearing they minimize competition.
Most plants prefer an acidic soil, so to that lapse, the sumac will definitely benefit. In add-on as the needles decompose, they will affix organic substance to the soil, enriching it further.
It is a good mulch, because it doesn't require the adjectives down of trees to create the mulch... sorta renewable and in a approach recycling as resourcefully. Kudos on using an environmentally friendly mulch.
