Will my plant take the other plants sick? So I have a zebra plant http://www.hplants.com/zebra_plant.htm and it isn't...
So I have a zebra plant http://www.hplants.com/zebra_plant.htm and it isn't looking so good. It have tiny white/cream colored fuzzy looking (dead?) bugs(?) on it. They aren't moving so I don't think it is aphids. It has be like this for awhile and nothing I hold tried has worked (spray-wise). It is starting to be a little droopy too. The first year I have it the leaves were really perky and it even flowered! But in the finishing few months it has started to look shabby. I have be caring for it the same channel as before so I don't know how it got doesn`t matter what it has. My questions:
1. Are the bugs even though I can't see anything moving?
2. Will it achieve my other plants sick? I keep it in by my desk and away from my other plants. I'm thinking no because they are different species, this is my one and only zebra plant.
3. If I take it into a nursery/plant place, would that be irresponsible? Do I risk getting their plants sick? They probably have zebra plants within.
budge to your local plant nursery and see what they say. they should be plant professionals.
Mealy bugs; http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im... Do hold the potential of infecting your other plants.
I smash them bare handed next using a fine, hard, spray of water flush their remains from the plant.
Answers: Your plant has mealy bugs, and yes other plants are can ge them. I've used store remedy's that didn't work. Try filling a squirt bottle beside water and a few squirts of dish soap and then spray the plant. You can do this each day without harming it; this will destroy the bugs. Good luck.
