Why own Elephants Ear bulbs not grown? I bought two bulbs at 5 pounds each. Two months ago...

I bought two bulbs at 5 pounds each. Two months ago I planted one outside mixed beside soil from the garden and new compost and I planted one indoors surrounded by a conservatory that's not cold. I forget the Latin name of the plants but they're call Elephant Ears and big green leaves. Nothing has grown but and I was wondering why?
Is it ordinary for a Bird of Paradise...
Answers:    They have need of to be started indoors and only transplanted when it is heat up outdoors.
