I got an estimate of $1200 to own 2 trees in my backyard cut down.
KSE is right. The insurance for an arborist is incredible. Afterall, how many job are there where on earth you can cut off your leg, knock your brains out near a slab, cut open your skull next to a saw kickback, electrocute yourself, fall out of a tree or bucket? Also tag on drop a branch on a car, house or party..

Then you have the equipment..no, not in recent times the saws (which are not the ones you find at Home Depot!, etc, but the chipper and chipper box, saw, harnesses, ropes.oh the ropes which are replaced repeatedly.

Take down is not just dropping a tree close to a lumberman. They often hold to be brought down in section, each one attentively controlled all the opening to the ground..remember the roof? Many arborists use "cherry pickers" or "buckets" to get them into the tree instead of climbing..which if done impolitely will severely damage living trees. So you enjoy the cost of and maintenance of the bucket.

So the $$ is for a certified arborists' education on tree health, structure and danger, how to remove a tree, his/her equipment, insurance.

Before you decide to run with Joe Pickup Truck and his rusty chainsaw realize if Joe drops a branch on your roof, you pay envelope because Joe probably doesn't have insurance. If Joe falls from the tree, you reimburse Joe or his widow..and his lawyer.

Just $1200?? I get that for one tree in my front patio with jammy access.but it overhangs the house.
Have you ever be sued or know someone who has? Ever know of someone getting sued and not have insurance? Ever hear howmuch workmans compensation costs and how it is figured? Ever agree not to sue someone and consequently they dammage your property? Ever had to fix something that others hold dammaged either through abandonment or accident?

Well adjectives this costs even if it dosnt happen to you it have happened to others. Now do similar to the nice person said and gain 2 or 3 estimates. But dont be a fool and stop with the estimates. Request no better nonetheless require a copy, certificate of insurance and proof of workmans comp insurance, and standard libility. Then dont be a bigger fool, call the insurance owner and make sure your getting the correct business and being conducting the business to be covered. Now dont get confused. Workmans comp covers workers that take injured on the job. Your homeowners insurance probably dosnt cover this, find out and it may not cover your proprty if dammaged by a falling tree. This is why most citys require a contractor to convey insurance to cover the po people at the bottom.

And remember the trees dont come down adjectives at once but in pieces and this done undamagingly takes time and rigging and gear.
Friends that enjoy used a company or person within the past is a obedient way to look for a right job done but they might hold been lucky and nil happened on their property. Im usually one of the lucky ones. But for everything your lucky at your getting closer to the one piece your luck runs out on.

I know I dont have $1200 to spend on a tree to be cut down but I dont own $12,000 to patch up a worker or fix someones house either. And the fella you hire will most predictable be in matching boat, hes just making a living. NO ONE have insurance if they are self insured. They are just bonded. And thats a total nother can of worms.
Answers:    Arborists and Tree Care companies hold extremely high Liability Insurance premiums, as very well as workmen's comp claims, due to the nature of their work.

For trees over 40', that's not an unreasonable price.
It takes of a mind men, experience and heavy equipment.

We have to have several huge trees removed after a hurricane. They be already down and the cost was $500 per tree which included hauling them bad.

My husband insisted that we have two others (living pines) taken down as capably. They were more or less 25 years old and close to our house. I insufferable to see them go.

The crew that did the work truly had to climb up to pocket off section at the time. It was alarming to see them up there.

In the termination - we were glad to salary the price and admire childlike men who were not afraid to do the undertaking.
Why does it cost so much to have brain surgery?

It costs as much as individuals are willing to repay.

It's not the cutting that's the expensive bit: any bozo with a manacle saw can do that. It's putting the trees down where you want them to topography, and without destroying anything within the process. That's a very difficult entry to do. It may be cheaper to pay someone capably to do it right rather than suffer the consequence of an "oops"!

My sweetie is a faller ("lumberjack") near over 30 years experience in the most hazardous occupation contained by the world (Oil and Gas exploration and the Military are #s 2 and 3). He usually charges about a third of what others charge, and still feel he's getting paid a justifiable wage.

The catch, obviously, is finding someone who knows what he/she know what they're doing. You might want to ask around. Do you know anyone who has have similar work done? Ask around. Get estimates from a couple of others.
a very fitting company that we hire for trees, insured, bonded, covered everywhichway took down some trees for us after a storm damaged them. one branch still took a doomed to failure bounce and went THRU the neighbor's house. stuck thru the wall into a closet!!.. the company fixed it adjectives. no cost to us... and they had a bucket truck and four guys. and when the bill come and it was 1200, too, we feel that it was totally unprejudiced!..
