It seems like no issue what type of lettuce I plant, it always ends up bolting quickly. It is the type of soil, the amount of dampen, the amount of sunlight, the temperature? I'm frustrated!
Our lettuce tried to bolt, but the fence stopped it!!

LOL, (wish I could help)

i think it about a proper cultivating the sand.. or soil. Lettuce is a cool weather crop. It will bolt when it's heat
Answers:    Usually lettuce will bolt when the weather gets too hot, or it's not picked rash enough. I don't know what time of the year you are planting it, but it is usually an early spring crop and autumn crop here within SC. Obviously, the further north you go, the cooler the weather becomes. Also, some types of lettuce are better than others according to location. I prefer to plant the leafy types as defiant iceburg, etc.
I personally don't know of any soil differences that would cause lettuce to bolt, nor, aside from providing ample marine to prevent the plant from dying, I don't know of any water issues either.

dutiful luck
