I planted 4 seeds and 3 of them enjoy two plants growing from the individual seed. They are respectively about 16 inches towering and starting to produce leaves. Will I have to split the root and core in partly so that each plant have its own part of the roots or should I cut stale one of the sprouts? Or should I let it alone and permit the two shoots battle it out for nutrients and hose. Help! Never had this crop up before.
Thanks.
Answers: Having two, or more, shoots emerge from an avocado core is not unusual. If you plant large numbers of them you would see it duly often. Commercially you would pinch out the weaker of the two so that you would hold one strong shoot to graft, resulting in one straight trunk. I own not had any nouns splitting them apart. A young seedling is feed, in factor from the endosperm in the pip. So you are splitting the food between two shoots. Pinch a shoot out on one, and leave one next to two shoots. The plants will grow in any case and you can be the adjudicate of which is better. Good luck.
I have have some luck with sprouting them this year. I would lately leave both stems and see what happen.
I wonder if you got some genetic engenered seed. Spooky!
