Which is the best month to pick and dry rosehips, and how do you know when theyre too far gone? ...

Answers:    Depends where you are, since fruit ripens at different times within different areas.

Late August to early/mid September is roughly the best time to collect rosehips. They should be a deep red colour and still be slightly firm, although if you're going to be drying them anyway it shouldn't thing if they are a bit 'squishy'.

Just make sure that you don't pick anything mildewed or that appears to own already been a lunchtime for something!!
everything i have read just about them says to continue until after the first frost...dont know what you would do if you dont get frosts...we procure our first frosts in oct...
