Whens the best time to plant an apple tree contained by ohio? ...

Answers:    I live in Ohio and work at a greenhouse-nursery and we recommend planting within either Spring (mid-late March - April -early May) or within the fall (September-October). You can in actuality plant anytime throughout the summer...it's just harder on trees to be planted contained by the hot summer heat and it make much more work on yourself..the watering will be crucial at this point in the summer. And it's effortless to send the tree into shock surrounded by the sweltering sun and heat.
In the Spring, planting untimely before the warmness sets in give the tree time to establish a root system and gives it a better unpredictability of survival during our hot summers. You must still water your tree through out the summer tho. Always consistency the soil around the tree to check the wetness of it....keep it moist but not soaking drizzly. Over watering is just as detrimental as beneath watering.
In the fall...the coolness will tolerate the tree easily establish a root system back the freeze sets in...surrounded by the fall is an just what the doctor ordered time to plant because, when Spring comes around and the snow begins to thaw out it is a good source of watering for your tree..smaller quantity work for yourself. Another important fragment when planting your apple tree....or any tree for that matter, is do not plant it too cavernous. This is not good at adjectives. Planting too deep can motivation potential problems for your tree. Also...make sure to losen the roots and check to brand sure that none are wrapped around each other. If they are, be sure to cut them lose. If disappeared wrapped around each other this can make happen girdling of the tree later contained by it's life resulting surrounded by sure death. After planting your tree...place a 2-3" branch of mulch around the top of the rootball...this helps retain moisture, protects the roots and keep the weeds from growing pay for so fast! (If you choose to use a fertilizer at this time be sure not to put too much on it.)
Good luck and delight in your apple tree!

With that being said, the best time to plant a tree is formerly the sap starts to rise in it which is usually the extremity of Feb. or March in the Spring. Fill the inverted milk jug beside water at tiniest 2 times per week to insure that the roots are getting plenty of water to grow.
