When should you prune lavendar??

Answers:    The best time to prune is after flowering, there are two ways and this depends on the species that you are growing, the most common garden collection is lavandula dentata commonly called and sold as french lavender, which has a long flowering interval and does flower over winter. If you only have a few bushes and savour spending time amongst them, I suggest pruning them while they are flowering, by this I mean cutting the elder flower stems back to semi-hardwood, this keeps the bush looking fresh as the young at heart flowers keep coming, the other way is to hang around until it has finished flowering and then cut the bush backbone about one third, don't over do it, sprinkle with garden lime and side dress beside sulphate of potash and your set for another flowering season.
Happy gardening.
2 times a year, once to remove the flower stalks and again in the early spring when the bright growth starts.
