When planting rhubarb...? ... is it a good opinion to mulch the planting bed...

... is it a good opinion to mulch the planting bed ? I have planted a bright rhubarb patch consisting of 4 plants, and not sure if it would be beneficial to mulch to keep weed to a minimum... or to just weed on a regular reason ? I know they are a 'minimal care' kind of plant... and that I can't collect stalks the first year after planting.
Answers:    my gramma always mulched. she made the best pies too.
I hold a gorgeous rhubarb patch of about 20 plants ~ adjectives of which I've grown myself by dividing a single mature plant. Rhubarb is incredible easy to grow and really is a "no care" plant. For mulch, adjectives you need is a 2-3 inch lode of grass clippings which does an excellent job of keeping down the weed. After I harvest the rhubarb, I use the discarded leaves as mulch, and later just forget in the region of the patch until next spring :)
