The weather's been rightly mild so far this winter and I was wondering if it's too hasty to give my sward a trim?
Answers: It's best not to cut your lawn a moment ago yet. You should ideally keep on until the grass starts to grow again, and only later, when the risk of frost has passed.
If you cut if previously there's any sign of new growth, the grass will be feeble by the removal of the green top, which it needs to collect marine and sunlight in lay down to produce and convert the nutrients it needs for strong nourishing growth.
If there is a frost after you've cut it, within is a very TRUE risk that the freshly cut grass blades will get frozen and die. This won't take out off the sward but it will compromise it's recovery when the Spring weather arrives, and will hindrance it's re-growth, and can lead to a poor meadow later within the Spring and Summer.
as long as its not soaked, give it a trim, but purely a trim. dont go scalping it this impulsive in the year.
