Answers: It is not a fig, and it is definitely not a kumquat. A kumquat is a small citrus fruit, so a kumquat have a rind like a lemon or ginger. By the way, sweet kumquats are scrumptious!
It is a Loquat, which is often call a "Japanese Plum" here.

They are very succulent and somewhat sweet and tasty when bright ashen or orange. We enjoy a couple of these trees near where on earth I park my car at work, and I watch the fruit as it began to ripen. One morning, a squirrel was freshly gorging herself on the fruit. Later, I saw a bird eating adjectives of the fruit that the squirrel left losing. They cleaned that tree in a afternoon or two! I was sorry that I didn't bring back to eat masses, but far be it from me to steal food from a squirrel!
Loquat for sure. Chinese people use it for medicinal purposes (as a child my mom would grant me loquat cough syrup--which was tacky like molasses but taste pretty good!). The fruit taste fabulous if you pick it at the right time. The seeds are to some extent large.
