I bought a timer at the garden shop. It operate off of D cell batteries and turns the wet on for the amount of time I set, on the days I set, and then back rotten.
Sometimes I use it when I am not on vacation and just consistency too lazy to water.
They run in the order of $20 and mine has lasted 3 yrs. so far.
Answers: I put mine in the shade and where on earth I can get the sprinkler set to water it . Some plants are watered by neighbors. you can put your plants contained by the bathtub with river in the bottom and it can keep them drizzly for a few days. They also have the new gadget that you put in the plants that hold water and dispense it as needed. Most plants can survive a week in need extra water but you might need to put them contained by a bigger pot and at least set them outside in the shade and permit the rain water them .
Depending on how long you will be gone... Have a friend come over and water them or if merely a couple of days ... Don't worry about them!!
