Herbicide banding places the herbicide in a 10- to 15-inch strip over the row, and thereby reduce herbicide use 50¨C65 percent compared with broadcast applications. Banding can be used surrounded by any production system where row cultivation is an risk. Preemergence herbicides must be applied with the planter, any as granules through pesticide boxes or through a sprayer mounted on the planter. Weeds that develop between rows are controlled near row cultivation.
