What vine can i plant over my perogo surrounded by pots that will live through trial york winters?
Ivy will give you year round evergreen.
Wisteria will cause it look incredible in spring and summer, and will offer a good display of gnarly wood the rest of the year.
Clematis will present a light, exquisite look with stunning flowers surrounded by spring and summer, but, again, not evergreen.
Have you thought about grapes?
Pyracantha, which is spring flowering and have colorful berries in winter time, and right for birds.
Honeysuckles, which come in different colors, most of them importantly fragrant, and occasionally evergreen.
Winter Jasmine - Jasminum nudiflorum: great yellow flowers within the winter time, when most other stuff has died backbone.
Akebia quinata - this has chocolate fragranced flowers, needs a sunny position and will see away.
Hope these quick thoughts give a hand. Good luck! Rob
Answers: For evergreen in NY. The choice is predetermined, there are the two types of jasminium, ashen winter, white...spring and summer. There is also a large span of hedera(ivy) but this gets boring. There is also the blue keenness flower (passiflora caerulea) which is evergreen, but it's a bit iffy in your collar of the woods. Maybe worth a trip to your local garden center and ask there.
