It seems moister than usual wood chip mulch. The bag say it's made of "forest byproducts" or something, but it doesn't seem at adjectives like any other traditional mulch.
Answers: I lately put some down this weekend...I like the path it looks...hopefully it holds up well...as for what it's made of...found an article that contained the following quote from the "scientific director" at Scotts...
"Scotts mulches are made only of hardwood or pine yap, or of rot-resistant cypress and cedar with barklike virtues, said Titko"
Their website is not very civilizing on the matter, but it is supposed to be completely natural, so it would be moister in the untested packing. It also may have corn byproducts surrounded by it - same stuff they use organically as a pre-emergent for crabgrass and a logical additive for a mulch to fall seed germination of seed that land on the mulch after placement or those lying beneath it (or, in our nouns, the seeds that terminate up in it as we are placing it! LOL) So I am guessing it have a little corn-oil and corn-gluten within it.
