I bought a nice looking Aloe Ferox (I think it's Aloe Ferox, it of late said "Aloe" on the label) and I was wondering is it supposed to grow surrounded by the sand it's planted at the moment or should I plant it into soil?

It looks very nice where on earth it is at the moment but I don't want it to die though :)

Find a nice pot or planter, crawl it with sandy potting soil and transplant the aloe. Only hose down it occasionally -- it is a cactus.

Aloe should be planted in well-drained sandy potting soil within moderate light, so it's right to go.
