I am looking for some plants that would be good for a small porch garden, that is in principal shade. I get sun within one spot, but it's already taken up by my jasmine trellis that moved here with me. I abominate annuals...they seem pointless to me. Love veggies, herb, and perenials.
Any suggestions?
if you love perennials then cannas are great. nice flowers and the foliage is colorful. perennial if temps dont step below 15 and water is low contained by the winter.
also swamp sunflowers arent bad.
even tomatoes are apposite annuals, but the fuit are tasty and they fuit adjectives summer
An apartment porch sounds lovely and you can make it nice.
Lavender is a apt bet as it is colourful, evergreen, hardy and fragrant and looks gorgeous in terracotta pots.
Lots of herb have flowers as resourcefully as having the tasty bits such as chives, rosemary and thyme and again smell lovely.
Aqualieiga are periennial, but look lovely for a long time, but i would try and go for ever greens that also flower because consequently you have interest and full pots adjectives year.
Choiysa (mexican orange blossom) have lovely glossy green leaves and white flowers that smells lovely too.
Lilies are right, but again only come up within summer. For winter... with this weather it seem like it... you must capture a christmas box... they smell divine and if placed near a porch door the fragrance will waft in.
Go to your local garden central part and have apposite look round, you will find lots more ideas around many periennials, and ones that suitable for yopur small space.
I wouyld right to be heard be careful of flowers that attract seriously of bees and butterflies though, because although very biddable and valuable contained by gardens on a small balcony you dont want to be over run beside bees and get stung, so as nice as dwarf buddhelia and scabiosa are, i would avoid planting those.
Hope this help!!
Answers: Planting herbs would be a great thought, because they look and smell nice. You can also use them in your cooking instead of forking over so much money for fresh herb and spices at the grocery store. Check out this article about starting an herb garden for your apartment:
