I took this plant from one of the counselors at work, because it was practically dead.I have cut off the bad roots and stem (the parts that be dried up)...now it's only stem beside leaves...I have it in a bottle of hose down and its doing pretty good...But it's been somewhat over a week and I don't see any roots...So, will it grow roots? and also... What is the name of it.
Thanks..
Answers: It should begin grown small white "feeder" roots soon. A rooting hormone, such as Take Root, can be added to the wet container, but is not absolutely necessary. Continue watching for the tiny white roots.
Your plant looks to be within the Aglaonema (Chinese Evergreen) family, possibly 'Silver Queen'.
Aglaonema are nice in low-light environments. They also require low moisture level once established.
It looks like a variety of peace lily - if so, they in reality thrive in water and it will specifically root eventually. This is one plant you really can't kill because it SHOWS when it needs wet - the whole plant droops and then perk right back up when you water it. These plants are also grown within vases with a betta fish swimming around contained by the water - not really p.c., but pretty nonetheless ;-)
