I want to plant something in my garden within rememberance to a good friend who died. He lived by,loved and worked on the deep-sea.He knew when someone needed a hug (he know when someone was down, lacking any words).He once won lb700 on the lottery,he needed lb60 to mend a boat engine(that was not his) and treated himself to another lb5.00 on the lottery. Gave the rest to great orldmond street hosp.What plant can contribute this great caring man credit, I hold a sunny south facing garden.
How in the order of a sunflower? Every time it seeds you can rob a seed and grow it into another. It will nurture the birds also. He was a man who shared his material comfort so it is fitting that the plant should share its fruits with the birds. Or some other type of fruiting plant if this would not suit your location.
Borage
As a companion plant Borage is not individual a pretty, flowering, edible herb, but it also improve the flavor of tomato vines when grown within a few foot of them.
A great companion, no?
My hearts near you at this time. He's in a better place presently...
My late grandfather give my mother (his daughter) a cutting from his garden - and this reminds me of him whenever I'm out contained by the garden in the summertime when it comes out every year to articulate: "I'm still here". I miss my grandfather still after 4 years. He always made me jovial - and I miss his piano playing at Christmas time.
Interest in borage remains big because it is the highest specified plant based source of Linolenic bitter (gamma-linolenic acid or GLA, sometimes call gamolenic acid) which is an essential fatty acid found primarily within vegetable oils.
Answers: Rosemary is for remembrance. It is a really lovely herb that grows a bit shrubby. It gets small blue flowers surrounded by the spring. It is wonderful to cook with or preserve around for it's aroma - you can think of your friend every time you use for a time bit. Try to get one call Arp - it is hardier than most and perennial. It is evergreen so you will be able to echo on it year round.
Gladiolus stand for strength of character, which it sounds close to your friend had surrounded by spades. Glads are also easy to grow within the space you describe but will not be visible adjectives year round. They bloom in spring/summer and die posterior in the winter. You can capture them in in recent times about any color you desire.
The steam loving annual zinnia is often considered a symbol for thoughts of misplaced friends.
Some additional thoughts:
river lily = purity of heart
ivy = friendship
geranium = true friendship
And if you are thinking of going big:
weeping willow = mourning
french willow = bravery and humanity
flowering almond = hope
Whatever plant (or plants!) you pick, I highly recommend making yourself rather plaque of some kind. I resembling to find a medium sized smooth rock (something no bigger than my hand) and write the person's christen on it in irretrievable marker. You could also paint it, etc. as you close to. I place the rock near or lower than the plants to not only assistance me remember my friend but also to help me remember where on earth I planted something that may not come up again for awhile (like those glads!)
I'm sorry to hear about your friend - I wonder if the Great Ormond St. Hosp have a small garden where you could plant a rosemary within his honor?
Good luck and good wishes.
