Answers: Red Wigglers. aka 'Bama Jumpers.
However - if your compost is outside, and you have winter - you would hold to insulate, or choose a different worm species. Red Wigglers don't do winter.
I have a worm bin surrounded by my house, with red wigglers, and since it never freezes, it's be going well for nearly 6 years.
