The garage is too cold and not insulated. The basement is heated and a bit too heat up. They usually sprout up in the storage containers and some don't trademark it due to moisture.

You with the sole purpose need to pocket the dahlia tubers and place them up side down so any water or gooey within will drain out of them, whilst they are surrounded by a box but do not seal them or use plastic as This will cause them sweat and then rot. If you live in the UK , depending on where you live ie:- south they will start sprouting from almost early April/March. As you travel North it will be following ie:- Scotland is about 2/3 weeks next than say the South. Keep the Tubers cool and you shouldn't own any problems Even I lose 2/3 tubers each year whilst over wintering so don't verbs to much.
