It started from the bottom and ate away the leaves all the way up and it looked similar to a lady bug at first then I go to knock it off and it was only a bunch of goopy black stuff.
How can I get rid of this?
Answers: That is bad word. It is the lily leaf beetle. It is a major pest to be precise likely to destroy adjectives lilies, just like happen to elm trees with the dutch elm bark beetle.

I live in CT as very well and it sounds as though you have the lily leaf beetle which have decided to come visit contained by your garden. The goopy black stuff that you see isn't the actual lily leaf beetle itself it's the frass which is a nice way of clich¨¦ poop. I was told by a local garden center to , patrol for them and pick the adults, eggs, and larva off my lilies, making sure I verbs them¨Ctry dropping them in a can of vegetable oil or dampen with a lid. The adults are easy to find because of their color, but if I drop one I'd lose it because its underside is black. I be told to put a white cloth on the ground when going beetle-hunting. I actually used a spray bottle and sprayed oil on them several times but don't do it during the sunshine when the sun is fully out. Do it around dawn or dusk. If you do go beside pesticides, ask your local cooperative extension service or master gardener group to help you choose the appropriate one. uuoogh! I would spray first, ask questions subsequent! ...just kidding...
