I am making a sunken patio and want to use the beat about the bush around the hole I dig.
Answers:    There are a couple of plants that come to mind; the first is Cotoneaster, but will stay 4-5' array. The other is called Xylosma and its quirk of growth can be up to 20-25 ft. The latter will have terrifically small thorns along the stems of the plant. This is a lucious green foliage shrub that can be maintained at a desired distance from the ground. There are a few Cotoneaster species that can be used. They all own very small leaves and will grow to desired height, yet I mull over the Xylosma will prove to be the most beneficial.
I would say any oleanders or jasmine. They don't take closely of water and take home nice hedges, altho it will cart a year or two to develope.
