If you are looking for the names of outdoor plants within your area, try this. The USDA plant database.
http://plants.usda.gov/index.html

If you mean houseplants, newly google the common names. You should be capable of find most pretty easily.

Some of my customers use websites to look up plants I refer to them, but I don't know the sites.
Try googling some things like horticulture, plants, ornamentals, trees, shrubs, landscaping, stuff similar to that. Hope you get a more specific answer. Guess I should find out and write them down for future use.
Good Luck

In a broader sense, maybe a Google dig out "plant identification" + names may help you find what you involve:

EDIT: I just remembered that P. Allen Smith, the writer/host of Garden Home on PBS, has an online plant library, near photos, common names, and Latin name -- a great resource!
