I use cutworm collars which are slickly made out of many Things similar to toilet paper rolls cut within half, small yogurt containers next to the bottom cut out, piece of hose with a slit cut within the side so the hose can be slipped around the stem. You can also tie a pencil to the seedling stem as the cutworm cannot bit through the pencil or a stem as thick as a pencil.

These technique will cut down on damage crop loss dramatically. I use them surrounded by my 3 acre market garden.

Cut worms are big adequate to find quite repeatedly. Another remjedy is to put a cardboard toilet roll centre or similar around the floor to make a wall.

If your garden is well mulched consequently the problem could be slaters. (woodlice) they like beans especialy and will normally cut through stems just similar to a cutworm. Normally they're not that much of a problem i know but given the right conditions they multiply and have nature change that make them a real menace. Derris dust works capably and is organic.
