I know what a sesame seed looks resembling but where do they come from? How oodles seeds on a plant? Is the plant call a sesame plant or otherwise?
Answers:    Sesame seeds come from the tropical, herbaceous, annual Sesamum indicum, a beneficiary of the Pedaliaceae family. The plant reach up to six feet contained by height, and the leaves hold tiny hairs on both sides. Its foxglove-like flowers are purple to whitish.

It be a highly prized grease crop of Babylon and Assyria at least 4,000 years ago. Today, India and China are the world's largest producers of sesame, followed by Burma, Sudan, Mexico, Nigeria, Venezuela, Turkey, Uganda and Ethiopia. Cultivation within the U.S. is concentrated mostly in southern and western states.
