I have 4 variety of tomato plant and live in the south of England. Something is intake the "Shirley" but ignoring the "Tumbling Toms" and "Alicante" variety.
They are about 12inches glorious and bought from the same garden meat.
Any ideas please?

Is it eating the entire fern and leaving the stem ? In America I would look at the horned tomato worm. It is something like the size of your thumb and is the color of the tomato plant. The reason that it hasn't touched the others is it a short time ago hasn't gotten that far. If it is the horned worm that is. Look close lower than the leaves. It may only come out at hours of darkness. that would be the reason that it is frozen to see. Good luck

If the stems are being severed at ground horizontal, it's grubs.
When planting, wrap the lower stems with daily below and above ground. That will prevent that.

If the leaves are being eat, that is tomatoe worms. You can find them below leaves. They are green, about 1-2 inches long, own horns, and are ugly. Pick them and squash them. Insecticide will prevent those.

I enjoy no idea why one range would be effected over others.
Eggs could enjoy existed from the nursery, or developed in your garden.

Answers:    Sometimes a small cut worm will live surrounded by the soil beneath the plant. They tend to come out at night and will drink right through the plant stems. Either a quick transplant to another container or a thorough exam of the soil around the stem. The worm is almost 5-6 mm in diameter, grey and going on for 2-3 cm long.
