What are the golden cocoons falling rotten my Live Oak trees contained by New Orleans since August? My yard, sports car, driveway and deck are covered in a gold...

My yard, sports car, driveway and deck are covered in a gold ingots colored cocoon that seems to hang down on the bottom of the leaves of my Live Oak Trees. They are everywhere, like little cotton ball and there seem to be no end within sight for their presence surrounded by my yard, lower than the hood of my car, inside the house, etc... What are they? I own never seen this until that time in 35 years of living contained by New Orleans. Does it have anything to do beside global warm?

Answers:    Not sure if it has anything to do next to global warm, unless that's changing the environment where on earth you live so that pests have a greater accident of survival. Without seeing the items it's hard to guess - embezzle some (in a plastic baggie) to your local Master Gardener or Botanic Garden place (you can find them on the web) and they should be able to ID it for you.
