I am starting up a garden for the first time. I do have some space to grow surrounded by the yard, but I would also similar to grow some in pots. What veggies hold grown in pots successfully? Maybe close to squash, cucumbers, or peppers, etc?
Answers:    All of the ones you hold said are good but you can grow your own salad bowl!!

Lettuce grows really all right in pots and the more you pick the more it grows. Also tomatoes, radishes, spring onions.

You can also grow potatoes surrounded by pots now... pop along to your local garden focus they will give you lots of guidance.. its setting me off very soon!!

I grow all of the above plus herb of course, of which copious you can put in salads etc, and also grow strawberries surrounded by hanging baskets or pots and you can also grow small apple and plum trees. yum!!
Don't grow vine type vegetables (where the veg lies on the ground) within a pot. Grow bush type veggies. Critters will get to your tomatoes since turning red. Grow something hot. That'll keep unauthorized munching to a minimum. Jalapenos or hot banana pepper are easy to grow. Both will shift colors. The redder the pepper, the more the vitamin C. Go organic, use soapy marine or a mixture of chewing tobacco to kill bugs instead of insecticide. Happy growing, gardening is awfully relaxing.
