we are looking for domestic animals that are the most useful to control weed and brush from our ranch and not wound the land or wildlife habitat
Answers:    Being a rancher within North Dakota, I'm curious what you're trying to raise and where on earth? Most of our pasture is unimproved prairie meaning no pesticides or fertilizer, of late too much land to form economic sense. Modern government actually mimics the grazing of buffalo herd in years departed. If cattle are allowed, they will eat around a weed as will most grazing animals but fencing sour small areas of pasture (about a 160 acres per 1000 head) called 'cell grazing', will force cattle to drink the weeds beforehand quickly moving them to prevent overgrazing. We started surrounded by the late 1960's and it took decades to muffle weeds and promotes grasses. It wasn't cheap, at todays prices the paling would cost over $200,000. Cutting the hay on weedy ground is another management tool to prevent weed from reseeding.. RScott
