Answers: All clematis will verbs to grow through the growing season, ie warm weather, and good muted. Different varities and species flower at differing periods, and frequent will give an unexpected flush of flowers, outside of their crucial flowering season.
As yours has flowered, it should now be continuing its growth. Prune them according to the type of Clematis that you own, some are good with unyielding pruning in spring, whereas this would decimate the flowering of most early flowering types.
In common they like cool moist roots, whether or not they prefer full sun/part shade etc. They also benefit from good fertilisation, so I'd step this up presently, as your plant is somewhat stalled. It's often good to put some shade over their roots too, as this help keep them cool, potentially stopping water evaporation too. A mulch is fine, or possibly some stones etc.
If in that are seed heads, I'd remove these, to prevent its animation going into the production of seeds.
Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob
