We have have them only 3 months and they are planted surrounded by normal compost. The leaves are slowly going brown and dying one by one. We marine once a week and the compost always feel moist.
I don't know what is causing the leaves to dry out and its such a shame to view them die.
Can anybody help?
Answers: If you hold the common moniker right, your palm is a Dypsis lutescens, also called Areca Palm. It is genetic preferenced for semi-arid conditions.
You are probably overwatering it. Let the soil get hold of dry before tallying water. Also breed sure the drainage hole in the bottom of the pot is unscrew. If water accumulate in the bottom of the pot the tree will die.
D. lutescens is a clumping palm which mechanism it produces new shoots from around the underside and the base get wider as the tree grows. It will become pot bound sooner than other palms and this will stunt growth if allowed to continue.
you can also overwater plants ,are the pots big satisfactory as they could be root bound in this travel case try re potting them.
try putting a small handfull of osmacote at the base of the plant this will release plant nutriants over six months
