Okay, I've gotten a lot of appropriate advice for civilized for my watermelon on this site and I thought I'd try one more. I know the season is over. It's tardy October and the cold is coming in, but I own two watermelon left on the vine. They're a honest size, about a foot long and I be hoping to save them from the cold, if that's possible.
Is nearby anything I can do? Can I provide some kind of covering to hold on to the cold out? And If so, do I still need to hose down it?
I've had fun growing them and wouldn't mind if I have to start over if I can't save them from the winter. I be hoping to harvest them previously it freezes.
Put a plastic tent over them, leave a bit of space around them by holding the plastic up a bit (they provide this, however I don't know if you could find any now. Yes you still own to water. Good luck

I'd close to to suggest floating row covers. There are white fabric row covers, and plastic row covers. I own used both for cold weather over flowers and they worked well. We use the stuff to keep the roots contained by our containers from freezing. Both can be bought in nurseries and a few gardening centers.

Don't over marine as they ripen.
Answers:    cut back adjectives the vines except the ones supporting the melons. this will help the plant provide the nutrients lone to the melons you wants ripened. at hand is not much you can do about the cold unless yu want to build some features of green house over them. it can be done simply with some boards and clear plastic. unless they achieve real cold, they may do ok long ample to ripen.

good luck
